The Answers Network

Bradley joins LA Talk Radio’s Allen Cardoza on his show, Answers Network, to talk about the Super Age, longevity, and our demographic future.

The Super Age marks a point in time where - for the first time in history - 1 out of 5 people (20% of the population) are over the age of 65. This is not some far distant horizon. Several countries have already met that designation, including Italy and Japan.

The US is set to enter The Super Age by 2034. Several US states and 1/3 of the counties throughout the entirety of the country currently meet the Super Age designation.

What does that mean for us as a society?

Better, Longer Life

In this program Allen and Bradley discuss this shifting landscape and how it causes changes in lifespan resulting in delayed marriages and child bearing as well as how lifespan increases don’t just tack on years to the end of life, but add healthy years to the middle.

They also discuss how we need to think differently about the future of work; both in how long one will be employed and what form work will take. In some cases, people may take on multiple careers or shift roles within the same industry. They may move to part-time or gig type roles or work in an advisory capacity.

Companies and individuals will need to embrace an attitude of lifelong learning.

“It’s not just income, it’s purpose.”

As Bradley points out, staying engaged, especially for men, has been shown to increase both mental and physical health. He notes, “it’s not just income, it’s purpose.”

As the conversation unfold, they also touch on several of today’s top concerns and how they are affected by and can be helped by an understanding of demographics including:

  • the supply chain

  • inflation

  • Ukraine

  • housing market

  • China

  • investing in rural America

  • manufacturing
